Tonight I’m going to go see Elvis Story again, thanks to my job who offered me the tickets (a 140$ value too!) It’s an immense show with a redhead (!!) who impersonates the king, although in his case it’s not really impersonation because he’s not doing it in a tacky manner, but more as an interpretation - according to him anyway. He’s not trying too hard, and his singing voice and dancing skills are awesome. It’s interesting too because you see Elvis from his teenage years up to his death all in songs, dancing and videos projections. Sometimes the set decoration is similar to the silly romantic movies he made right after the war.
I’d seen the show before in a smaller theater with my best friend Bianca, she had gotten 2 tickets for christmas, so naturally I called her first to know if she could come with me but she works until 9! Too bad. Tonight I’m going to the mega production at the Bell Center and I have tickets “in the red” (good section) and I’ll be going with my mom, poor dad will just have to stay home. Hehe.

I wonder how the show will be, it used to be made for a really small room and now it’s out in a 17 000 amphitheater! I guess I’ll find out tonight!

Last weekend was my mother’s birthday. A very special number too, and as always I only remembered a the last minute about an hour before my lunch break at work on the day that we would leave for the cottage. Let’s go over the timeframe : it is around 10am, at 5 tonight my parents are picking me up to leave to Ste-Agathe where the cottage house is and remain there until sunday with no chance at all of going shopping on my own there to find something. My only salvation is my lunch break. I quickly open maps.google.com to search for the closest Lush and google tells me it is at 1,2km walking distance. I’m wearing flipflops, is it possible to get there, shop, come back and still find time to eat? Turns out I walk at 6,5 km/h and I make it in 11 minutes! I find some pretty foot creams and get that.

I have started a pair of socks (Knitty’s falling leaves) out of Sheperd Sock colour tuscany I got through kpixie nearly a year ago for myself but I quickly noticed how she liked the pattern and colour.  My mother can guess any of her presents faster and more efficiently than anyone I know, she is so good at it that I tell her in advance that I have bought her present so she can go hide in the bathroom while I hide it. If she knows either 1) the size, 2) the bag, 3) the mall I went to, or 4) if I bought present on a wednesday, her brain starts an analysis and within 30 minutes she knows everything from the object itself to the colour of the wrapping paper. It is rather troublesome because she really enjoys surprises. So when I noticed she liked the socks-in-progress, I pretended to continue making them for me, that way she would never guess they were meant for her and I could still knit them in her presence. I even had her try one to show her how soft it was, and how I could get her some of that yarn for herself if she wanted. I was secretly checking the length to make sure it would fit her feet.

Unfortunatly, now she knows this trick and I will have to find something else next time. At least I have six months to go before christmas … in the meantime I have managed the deceive my mom for the first time. I deserve fully the huge smile on her face when she opened the bag :)

Yes, it would appear that knitting has crossed once more mainstream barrier : blogs are going down under the effect of thousand hits all thanks to Stephanie’s mention. How many of us are there spread thinly across the globe but so strongly once you give us a keyboard? I am afraid that one day we will have to be added on the famous Map of the Internet. What is craziest is that our first /. effect was refered correctly by the victim, it would appear that on top of being a gang of yarn goddesses, we are true geek goddesses : rock on! (or… knit on!? code on!)

Wow. I just finished watching this movie and I think I have taken a liking to slasher movies. I always hated them, they were so shallow and the end was always so obvious, do not get up the stairs, yes the killer is inside the house and yes the phone lines are cut. Not so with this one… and the blood is beautiful! Gone are the days of ketchup and tinted corn syrup, this thing looks perfect in both colour, texture and transparency.

The story is awesome and really builds up to a tension that doesn’t let go. Near the second third,  it goes down a bit and it made me wonder if the director wasn’t consciously making her audience relax to shock them even more minutes later so I grabbed the end of my cushion the whole time. I’m really happy that I will not have trouble sleeping tonight, it is not the sort of movie that will scare you once it is over, but it will deliver shivers throughout.

Unfortunatly, that also means that my sock is really not progressing as fast as I wish it would… still 2 inches to go.

… then when Zidane was (probably) insulted he would have turned around and told that damn italian to shove her tampon deeper in her ass to stop brain leakage and he would not have needed to prove his masculinity by acting like a ram in heat.

The damn azzurris were poor for the whole game except for the twenty minutes after the France penalty and their own goal, France deserved the Cup fair and square. I’m swearing off pizza (not pasta because that is originally from China) and I hope next month’s Paris Match is devoted to the ZZtop incident, hopefully with lengthy juicy details.
