Last tuesday when my religion class was canceled I went to browse around at the bookstore on my way home and bought a couple of nifties. I searched for the latest Robin Hobb and Juliet Marillier but both authors’ sections was empty as if a herd of fans had came in before me… I continued looking around searching for a novel I had seen before : The Confessions of an ugly step-sister and eventually I got it. Then I made my way to the knitting & cafts section of the bookstore (I am only human!) and there I saw a really cool jeans cutting booklet that I just *had* to get for Debbie even though her birthday is in 8 months.

Tangeant. It’s all good to be against the idea of commercialism crass during christmas but I like giving gifts damnit! It isn’t a tradition that should be lost just because commercialism has taken over it. Let’s not throw the baby out with the bath water. End of tangeant.

In the knitting section I saw the latest book by the Yarn Harlot whose blog I read daily and I got it for myself but when I read it through I was not as impressed as with her first book and since I had re-activated my membership card they said I should carry the proof of purchase in case the card wasn’t properly re-magnetized. So I still had the coupon. I could return it. Which I did. I felt so “Badddddddddddddd to the bone” at the moment but otoh, I walked out happily with a copy of “Charmed Knits” which has some totally cool patterns of Hermione elf hats, Dobbie socks, Weasley sweaters and so much more… including a bag that looks totally awesome!! I just haven’t figured out what it has to do with Harry Potterness, but who cares? It looks hot and I want it. It also includes two patterns I already paid for but now I have them in book goodness format. So I’m very satisfied :D

Mentioning smileys, I have a definite crush on the new googleTalk ones. They are so adorable! They make me forget that today I am trying to go give blood again. I hope I manage to do it this time, no feeling faint.

I just read this article on the new york times website about Québecois Poutine and I have a sudden intense urge to go eat a big juicy one with chicken nuggets, hotdog sausages and cole slaw on top…  Mmmm I have to find a way to convince my mom to stop by a dinner somewhere!

To offset the ridicule I felt yesterday, today is a fantastic day for Patrick. He just told me his big paper for his history class was so well received by his teacher that it would be publishable! Like he said, if that isn’t proof enough that switching his major from computer science to history, nothing can make it clearer :) I’m ridiculously proud of him even if I’m not even done reading the 23 pages long paper.

I’m so hopelessly impressed of how he managed to write 23 pages of content. It’s like all sentences are simplified to the limit so that there is almost no rambling and no specialised vocabulary.  It’s so damn cool! Ok, I’ll go actually finish reading it now :)

Yesterday, I had a massive Bridget Moment  when I went to study/eat/relax on the exquisitive McGill campus with Debbie. Just like in the movie we always get a nice big close up of her butt, I flashed a lot of people when the wind caught my skirt as I was trying to keep hold and catch my notes that were flying in the wind.  I was really more preoccupied by my notes, I don’t really care how many people see my undies but as Debbie screamed for me to cover myself I have a feeling it was a bit shaming (maybe more for her than for me). I’m sure the fact that I lost 8 pounds makes a very small different regarding the size of my ass, and that compared to the rich snob kids that go to McGill it was far from glamourous.

Oh well, next thime I’ll wear some black lace undies, mwahahahah!

This morning I felt like utter crap and I kept coughing up furballs green goo so I decided it was in my best interest and that of my future classmates not to show up to my Italian class. Debbie went and you can go read her appreciation of it, she called me between the break and right after class in a slightly stressed out voice saying I better study hard the whole of the first chapter for Wednesday morning, that the class will be hard and that the teacher will speak only in Italian starting next class. Yay! On one hand I’m pleased that it will be a challenging class, that means I might be able to talk a little Italian by the end of the summer, but it’s also a little scary. I’m afraid of mixing the little I know of spanish with it and ending up talking nonsense. As for my second class, Death and Dying, it was absolutly fantastic. I had forgotten how much I adore that teacher and how dynamic she is. The subject, although really weird and macabre, is fascinating in that it’s something that defines human experience (like every other religion class I suppose) The coursepack readings are long but I know from experience they will be super interesting and inteligent. I’m even lucky in a way because having had this teacher before in another religion class, she is also starting the class by reading at the same 2 major texts that I already studied with her 2 years ago. So I can breathe for a few days while I catch up my missed Italian class.

p.s. I passed FFAR with my worst university grade to date *sigh* :( D- which puts my gpa (not that I even care or know what gpa even is) at 2.99 from the previous 3.15 BAH at least I don’t need to take it again, I would seriously have considered not finishing up my degree.
