A week ago I got an email telling me that one of my classes had been rescheduled from the fall semester to the winter semester. This completly unbalanced my work load and I am now stuck with only 3 classes in fall and 5 in winter. I was really mad because it’s my last year, I’m taking 400 level classes (which should be a major pain in the …) and since it’s my last year before graduating I’m pretty much stuck taking whatever classe my specializatin requires of me. Which means I don’t have much leeway in changing classes right now. I then realized I could switch a single class from winterand change it with another in the fall. I went on the university listing page, saw 3 classes that fit the requirements. Looked at their names, deleted one because I don’t want to buy 300$ worth of electronics equipement, nor do I think I could ever been good at it. Then I saw two, one of which interested me and saw that it was already full. The third class still had place but it was given during anoter of my classes and it’s a SOUND class… anyone who remembers me during my pro tool class knows that the computer would bug just when I looked at it. Bummer. I decide to beg to the departement lady to code me into the class that is already full because I have “graduating this year do everything to help me status”

Today, now that I have some free time, I’ve realized that it’s really the other way around. The sound class is full but within in my schedule and the cool typography class still has room but is during my drawing class. My drawing class special topics. I class I got up at 6am to register into and it was full about 5 seconds after I added it. So right now I’m stuck wondering which is better, having a normal balanced schedule in a class I like without the special topics drawing class, or keeping my special topics drawing class, suffer an advanced programming class and have an unbalanced year…

Well, now that I added the removal of the advanced programming class into it, I think it become rather obvious but I’m still disapointed :( I was really looking forward to a drawing class entirely focused on the human figure with tons of models. I guess I will take a normal drawing II then…

added : It seems I made the wrong choice now, because I am incapable of finding a single class in fine arts that is not already full. :P

I’ve been tagged by Debbie and I have to come up with 8 things about me that nobody knows. I wonder how many hours it will take me to come up with something because honestly, with my big mouth that talks talks talks endlessly I’m pretty sure everybody knows every single secret of my existence. At least it will give me the opportunity to use an ordered list! <ol> to the rescue!

1. My big brother can make me do pretty much anything because he’s my older brother. He once convinced me at around 13 years old that it was a real “rite of passage” when you receive a handknife that it should taste your own blood. I hope he was freaked enough that I actually sliced my own hand. I blame fantasy novels and a superimaginative brain.
2. I have a huge fear of spiders but it depends on the environement. A spider in my bath will turn on the shrieks big time. A spider outside barely gets noticed. I try to act all unafraid when Judith is around because she is even more afraid than I am (or she is shameless)
3. I love country music a lot more than society wants me to. Shame!
4. I have NO clue what a computer BIOS is. nor what its function is.
5. My happiest memory is being a clandestine reader in my brother’s library as a child and hearing cicadas and the noon bells ringing through the window. The carpet was from the 60s when my parents got married and it’s yellow and white with an horrible fringe and I would lay down on it and explore far away lands of paladins, dwarves and dragons.
6. I have a deep ache and desire to own one of these they are just so well crafted and pretty, and I could act out my favourite Disney movie with it!
7. I love reading grammar books, dictionnaries or any etymology related text.
8. I HATE hard caramel ice cream.

I’m leaving now in only a few short hours to go frolicking on the beach. It’s been a really old family summer vacation tradition that disappeared when I was around 8 years old (aka the year I watched The Little Mermaid a gazillion times and my parents had twitches whenever they could hear Under the Sea‘ opening notes). But since my oldest brother started being a old teenager/young adult while I was still a toddler, he didn’t join us in summer beach vacations and we realized late last month that it has been 22 full years since we’ve all been together in vacation at the beach! It feels weird a bit, because it makes me realize I was never really conscious of those summers because I was too young. And also there has been 3 important births since then!

It will be a long ride but it should be fun. I brought a lot of CDs to listen on the way. It should be fun to see how my brothers react to  certain songs :) I mean, it’s in my job description as a little sister to bring some insanity to their lives!

Completly unrelatedly, I started reading a little my Chicago Manual of Style last night going to bed (yes reading grammar helps falling asleep) and it was very nice to see written in there that English doesn’t have a real future tense. Ah-HA! And there is a huge section on word choices. Like when to use dependence or addiction, or the difference between abjure and adjure or being accused or charged. It almost makes me wish my job was to read novels before printing and see if the words are correctly used. It’s the sort of nitpicking I enjoy. I’ll definitely keep it on my nightstand now.
