For a project in my Digital Nomad class, I’m doing a project to explore the misused space of the “under the bed” and if anyone has stories and/or memories of monsters in the bedroom as children it would be really neat if you could write a comment or email me.

So far it’s very vague but I would like to create a bed that has sound, light and pressure sensors so that the bed can use the sleeper’s behaviour to create original shadows, creaky noises and footsteps every night. It would reclaim the mythos of the nightly fears for us adults who have grown past it, and give some shine back to the very boring and dusty space that is under your bed. (well mine is anyway)

A few weeks ago the fine art student alliance created a really nifty almost-fabric-nearly-plastic bags that every store sells for a dollar instead of using plastic bags and they are giving them for free for every student in the departement. I got mine and it has a really special drawing on one side with an animal over another. They also each have word bubbles that I can write whatever I want in. I was tempted to have them say “I am a banana!” and “my anus is bleeding” in honour of Don Hertzfeldt’s rejected cartoons (check out the youtube video)…

But now I’m not too sure if I want to walk around with that written on my bag. Anyone has any ideas that won’t get me arrested?

I’ve made this map, with little points to most of the major cities Judith and I plan to visit over our first two months in Europe so that whoever wants a postcard can decide where they want it from. I’ve set up an email filter so that if you email me with the subject line “Adresse europe” it will all file in neatly for me. So go ahead and email me your address and your choice of city or country and be sure to use the right subject line!

We’ll also cover the scotland highlands but our itinary won’t be as precise so if you choose scotland for your postcard, you won’t know from exactly where! Isn’t that exciting!

I think I’m overusing the exclamation points now, that’s what happens when I look forward to a sleepless night full of homework. Yay me! Yay University! (Note though, I’m only using one at a time, otherwise it would be bad grammar)

Over the last months, going to work had become a huge chore of boredom.  I was actually getting concerned that I was going to have to review my professional aspirations since it demotivated me completly to even think about going to work for a whole day of the week, not even a full time job.  I was so thrilled when I started working just a day every two weeks, that meant less boredom and more time to do the insane assignements I am getting in classes.

And now today I went in and I have a sort of new project to do! It’s not really a project but it’s much more than just updating the news section and removing chaotic apostrophes that show up as broken characters  because some people copy paste from Word and it screws up the encoding once on the server. Not that you all wanted to know. Anyway, it means I finally feel like I’m not being paid to read slashdot articles but actually using my skills for the “greater good” of the corporation.

It might also have to do with the sheer excitement of having spent approx 1000$ for plane tickets + insurance for this summer’s adventures in Europe, and the  teenage fascination with romantic rumours floating in the air! The point is, things are getting better, which is always nice because otherwise February’s cold and grayness could win over. Good thing I’m moving 2000 kms south for a week: gin & tonics, mojitos and rum in any shape and form, hold steady because I’m coming :D
