When I got up this morning, approximatively an hour and a half too early because I had forgotten my drawing class “brunch super breakfast party for the last class” was half an hour later than usual and that I didn’t need to eat breakfast before showing up… I was a bit meh. I wanted the sleep. I decided to go online and check all my websites so that when I get home later today I can go straight on to working on my research paper…

Then I loaded mugglenet.

The the world stopped.

Harry Potter and the deathly Hallows covers!

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - CoverHarry Potter and the Detahly Hallows - Back

Added, now that I’m discussing this with Debbie… a few major points of interest have come up.

  • Is the house elf holding the sword Dobby and he’s checking harry’s back or is it Kreacher trying to backstab him?
  • The big stone archway, is that the veil? If so, they look like they just went through it. I have strong doubt they will all die. Snape must be tortured with insufferable know it alls with ginger hair griffindors.
  • Patronus stag! It’s on thecover. It’s bound to be important. Will there be a dementor attack?
  • The castle, with the pointy leaf less tress doesn’t look like Hogwarts. Could it be the Malfoy’s Manor?
  • All the riches, is that in gringots? If so, who’s vault? Are the horcruxes hidden in gringotts?
  • Is the snake in the glass ball Nagini? Is she a Horcrux? Or is this the weird thingnyesdustcatchers on Dumbledore’s office, the one when he said “But in essence divided?”
  • American edition : he’s wearing the locket! Does that protect him in any way?
  • American edition : is the yellow glow a result of the dome of light of Priori Incantem?
  • American edition : What are they both gesturing towards? Could it be Fawkes? It’s bound to come up again since they both have his tailfeather in their wands
  • and lastly, what i sthat weird triangle + circle logo on the spine? It looks like some sort of secret society sign to me. I hope Jo hasn’t been too influenced by the Da Vinci Code.

I’m currently listening to the lastest MuggletCast which is discussing the 5th movie (thanks to text screeners fan who saw it in Chicago) and I just heard that Snape is barely in the movie! Tragic! Drama! Disapointement!

Apple crust

Monday, March 12th, 2007

Apple crust is my favorite food. period. It shares this special status with Pizza that it makes a very good warm meal, and a terrific cold breakfast the day after. People often stare at me when I’m making some because I’m different than everyone else it seems. I like it for the apples. I put crust on top just so the apples cook perfectly right. If I had my way, I would just eat the apples only with a side of crispy oatmeal for textural bonus. I also have this imagined feeling of eating well because it contains about 25 apples and not too much sugar and butter (at least the way I make it).

This rant is brought to you by yesterday night’s dessert which involved only 3 inches of apples under an inch of crust that ended up being slightly burnt and that didn’t completly cover the apples. So they never boiled up under the crust to make sure they are creamy smooth in the mouth. I’m disapointed. I need to buy another 5 pounds of apples and make a good batch just for me!

side note : regarding my totally wonderfull, cute and awesome Harry and the Potters t-shirt : I looked at the tag. It’s an American Apparel t-shirt. Guess where I’m going shopping tommorow? :D

Voldemort can’t stop the rock!

Sunday, March 11th, 2007

I just got home from the awesome (Ugly! Gruesome!) Harry and the Potters concert and it was fantastic. The stage presence of those guys really made me forget instantly how much the show was delayed (it was supposed to start at 8pm, the opening band started around 9:30…) I went with my two friends from drawing class, Sue and Gen ands unfortunatly noone else. Their loss.

I screamed, I danced, I ate a really good cookie (made by the singer of the opening band!), ate a tarty heart shaped candy (given by the Harry Potters themselves) and I got some soap bubble in my left eye (ouch!). I was really impressed with their music, that band really knows how to rock n’ roll that’s for sure, it was perfect punk rock in your face goodness and unfortunatly I only had 20$ in my pockets so i couldn’t afford all their CDs but that’s what paypal is for, right? It cost me a big 5$ to get in and I bought a wonderful t-shirt (for 14$) that fits me perfectly! I was really worried that they woudln’t have tshirts for my (extra) large chest in women’s sizes but they did, it feels really cool to finally have a cool tshirt that fits *and* is shaped for my body. Usually women sizing is too tight and men’s sizing is too long and baggy around the midrift. “Hogwarts Tonsil Hockey Team” it is, and I love it very very much. I’m even wearing it as I’m typing this.

And technically, it didn’t cost me a dime. Friday, I got to meet my mysterious cellphone guy and I was right : he was older. (but Mike, you are right, probably not older than 39) Mysterious guy held up a bill of 20$ toward me to thank me for bring back his cell, I refused saying it was ridiculous. I mean, I just leaned to pick it up, it isn’t such a huge effort. And besides, it brought some excitement into my day. He wouldn’t hear of it, he said that honesty deserves some praise and that I’m a student. I didn’t fight too hard, after all I had just paid for 5 yards of kraft paper using quarters, and when I finally got it in my hand I noticed there were two bills of 20$! Thank you very much, mysterious cellphone guy :) I went out for sushis and skipped FFAR (again, althought it was really cool to have a complete class about Glenn Gould) and now the last part of my reward was spent on a terrific Harry and the Potters tshirt. Mwahahahah.

There weren’t too many people at the Ukrenian Center where the show was hosted but everyone there was a total fan, I also think I saw Melissa from leaky, unless she has a double, but I don’t understand why she would go all the way from New York. Didn’t they have a show down there? But it looked so much like her. I should have asked, I always wanted to know where she does her shoe shopping in Manhattan. Maybe that’s what being startruck is. God I’m such a geek.

Harry Potter 7 is coming out july 21st! I can’t believe it will soon be over now. I can’t wait but I wished she had written a 10 000 pages long novel so it would last really long.
